Meeting of the High-Level Group of the Pacific Alliance takes place in Lima

September 6, 2023.- The High-Level Group (GAN) of the Pacific Alliance (PA), which brings together Vice Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and their representatives from Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, met last Friday, September 1, 2023, in Lima.

The high authorities and representatives addressed the status of negotiations with the candidates for Associated State and the accession of new full members of the integration mechanism.

The GAN also reviewed the preparations for the X PA Investment Forum in New York; the VIII PA Youth Meeting, organized jointly with Nestlé, on October 18 in Lima; and the II PA Exporting SME Meeting, on November 9 in Lima.

The authorities received representatives of the Pacific Alliance Business Council (CEAP), made up of the private sector of the four countries, to learn about their initiatives and recommendations, as well as representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), a strategic partner of the PA, to follow up on the valuable technical-financial support of this institution in the development of topics such as innovation, environment, gender, etc.

The meeting was attended by Ignacio Higueras, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Teresa Mera, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, representing Peru, the current pro tempore presidency of the mechanism; Claudia Sanhueza, Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, representing Chile; Luis Felipe Quintero, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, and Javier Higuera, Director of Regional Concertation and Integration Mechanisms of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing Colombia; and for Mexico, Efraín Guadarrama, General director of American Regional Organizations and Mechanisms of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vicente Peredo, Head of the International Trade Negotiations Unit of the Ministry of Economy.

Meeting of the High Level Group of the Pacific Alliance ends

March 13th, 2020 – The Vice Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, who make up the High Level Group (GAN, by its acronym in Spanish) of the Pacific Alliance, met in Lima, Peru, in order to evaluate strategic topics of this integration mechanism.

The GAN, at its first meeting in 2020, assessed progress in presidential mandates and issues related to the governance of the mechanism; in addition, it received the Director for the Americas of the European Foreign Service, Edit Hrdá, to discuss the current Pacific Alliance-EU agenda and identify possible cooperation actions within the framework of the Joint Declaration signed in 2019.

On the other hand, the GAN received Jessica Soto, Manager of Economic Affairs of the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (CONFIEP) and Chapter of Peru in the Pacific Alliance Business Council (CEAP). The GAN had a detailed explanation of the actions that CEAP is developing and the actions that are being taken in the governments in this regard.

In addition, the GAN analyzed the measures that are being taken in the Pacific Alliance countries with regard to COVID-19 and agreed on the need to coordinate efforts in the face of the commercial impact that it might have.

In the framework of this meeting, the technical groups that make up the Pacific Alliance met. Likewise, the Committees that are part of the Trade Agreement of the mechanism met.

The Pacific Alliance is a regional integration initiative made up of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, officially created on April 28th, 2011. The countries of the mechanism represent the world’s eighth largest economy.

Meeting of National Coordinators of the Pacific Alliance

August 25, 2022.- As a preamble to the meeting of the High Level Group of the Pacific Alliance (GAN, by its acronym in Spanish) made up by Vice Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, which will be held tomorrow in Lima, Peru, the meeting of National Coordinators of the PA will be held in that city with the objective of discussing issues on the common agenda such as the follow-up to joint declarations, the IV Cooperation Forum on the 30th and August 31, with the purpose of exploring opportunities for international cooperation with regional blocs, Observer States and other allied instances of the PA on issues such as creative industries, environment and sustainability, etc.; as well as the VII AP Youth Meeting, organized by Nestlé, which will bring together young people from the four countries in an event based in Mexico City.

Likewise, the representatives of the four countries moved forward on issues related to the reactivation of the audiovisual creative industries, the dissemination activities by the embassies of the 4 countries and improvements in the management of the mechanism.

Meeting of Ministers of the Pacific Alliance is held as an exercise of cooperation between countries

November 24, 2022.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, along with the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Alejandro Encinas Nájera, led the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Pacific Alliance (PA) today, with the participation of the Vice Minister of International Economic Relations of Chile, José Miguel Ahumada Franco; for Colombia, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña Mendoza, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Laura Gil Savastano; and for Peru, the Minister of Foreign Relations, César Landa Arroyo, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Miguel Julian Palomino, who endorsed the presentation of the following declarations:

  • Declaration of Mexico City
  • Declaration of the Pacific Alliance for the Protection of the Environment and adaptation to Climate Change
  • Declaration for Gender Parity in the Pacific Alliance
  • Declaration of the Pacific Alliance on MSMEs and Entrepreneurship
  • Declaration of the Pacific Alliance about Youth
  • Declaration for Well-being, Development and Social Inclusion in the Pacific Alliance

Likewise, the Council of Ministers signed decision 13, “Guidelines on the Relationship between the Pacific Alliance and Associated States”, and decision 14, “Work Plan 2023 of the Pacific Alliance Cooperation Fund”.

Subsequently, the Council of Ministers and the Council of Finance Ministers, in addition to sharing the progress achieved this year, received high-ranking authorities from Costa Rica and Honduras, who have expressed their intention to join the PA as full members; from Canada and Korea as Associate States candidates, and from Singapore as the next first Associate State of the mechanism.

The host and Minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, pointed out that these meetings are a sign of the commitment of our countries to forge a more social regional integration; recognized the importance of continuing to promote the gender issue transversally within the PA; highlighted the progress achieved regarding the candidates for Associate States; he emphasized the interest of all the member countries and those invited to work under one roof and, finally, he indicated that the XVII Summit of the Pacific Alliance will take place in Peru on a date determined by the four heads of state.

He also assured that “the Alliance works. Alliances that do not work, do not have applications for membership, and today almost the entire session was to listen to the countries that want to be part of our Alliance”.

“What we are seeing here is an exercise of cooperation and addition, there are not many. This is good news, whether or not they participate in the Pacific Alliance, because it speaks of the potential of cooperation, multilateral instruments and understanding between nations. So, they have asked me to transmit it to them because this was mentioned throughout the meeting”, pointed out Minister Ebrard.

For his part, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, Germán Umaña Mendoza, said that “only with social cohesion and inclusion, growth is warranted, because it is development and it is sustainability.” Sharing these values ​​today in the Pacific Alliance “is a privilege for my country, which is undergoing a profound transformation process, and for Latin America, which is responding in a really intelligent way to the serious difficulties we have experienced in recent years,” he said.

During her speech, the Vice Minister of Multilateral Affairs of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Laura Gil Savastano, thanked Mexico for its leadership and above all for emphasizing the social sphere. She expressed Colombia’s commitment to total peace and regional integration.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, César Landa Arroyo, highlighted that “assuming the pro tempore presidency with Mexico leaving such a high bar, commits us to deepen this social agenda that has already been defined.”

Likewise, he assured that “this interest has to be reflected in a tangible way for the benefit of citizens, and in particular with the accompaniment of sister countries that are in the process of integration and that this process should be completed in the pro tempore presidency.”

He also expressed his faith and hope to face a troubled time that our region and the world are going through, “it is continental and transcontinental unity, including Asia-Pacific countries, which will guarantee being able to solve in a much more integrated way, sharing experiences and also overcoming the differences that may exist for the sake of a common good, not only universal but also regional and local for the benefit of our populations, for this reason, we will reinforce the Pacific Alliance process”, he concluded.

The delegation of Peru, as the next pro tempore presidency, ratified its commitment to maintain the Pacific Alliance as an agile and regional mechanism; encourage all instances to work in coordination to promote the work agenda; support the processes of incorporation of Costa Rica, Ecuador and Honduras to the Alliance; strengthen relations with Observer States and promote cooperation projects that generate greater integration within the Alliance.

Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Pacific Alliance

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Pacific Alliance held a working meeting in Mexico City, on March 17, 2016, in order to assess this integration initiative´s relationship and strengthen its interaction with Observer States.

The four countries identified cooperation areas and specific actions aimed to reflect the priority the Pacific Alliance gives to its Observer States.  They also committed to continue reinforcing cooperation ties with such states.

The Ministers identified dynamic interaction schemes with observers as part of a roadmap toward the 11th Summit of the Pacific Alliance, to be held in Chile, in July.

During the meeting, the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Barcena, presented a proposal for cooperation in the fisheries sector.

The Pacific Alliance is a regional integration initiative created by Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru on April 28, 2011.  The four countries’ combined population is 214 million people, while their total GDP is US$ 2.1 trillion, equivalent to 37% of the Latin American product.

The Framework Agreement establishing the Pacific Alliance entered into force on July 20, 2015.

Más de 400 empresarios de la Alianza del Pacífico y Asia se darán cita en macrorrueda de negocios

  • Se negociarán productos de los sectores agroindustrial, confecciones y manufacturas.
  • Se proyectan 2,500 contactos comerciales.

8 de julio de 2019.- Más de 400 empresarios, entre compradores y exportadores de los sectores agroindustrial, confecciones y manufacturas de Chile, Colombia, México, Perú y otros países invitados asiáticos, se darán cita en la VII Macrorrueda de Negocios de la Alianza del Pacífico 2019, que se desarrollará el 10 y 11 de julio en la ciudad de Arequipa, Perú.

Esta plataforma comercial tiene por finalidad promover el comercio intrarregional y promocionar la oferta exportable del bloque a fin de ingresar a terceras economías, principalmente a las del Asia Pacífico. En ese sentido, participarán también empresarios de China, Japón, Corea del Sur, India, Indonesia, Malasia, Filipinas, Singapur, Tailandia, Vietnam, Australia y Nueva Zelanda.

“Ya son siete años consecutivos que nos reunimos como países miembro de la Alianza del Pacífico con el objeto de generar nuevas oportunidades comerciales para las empresas de Chile, Colombia, México y Perú. Más de 300 citas de negocios dejó encuentro comercial de empresarias líderes de la Alianza del Pacífico

PROCHILE, PROCOLOMBIA, PROMÉXICO y PROMPERÚ reunieron en Bogotá a 44 empresarias del Sistema Moda y Agroalimentos con 34 potenciales compradores internacionales.

El encuentro comercial, que promueve la participación y generación de negocios de las empresas de la Alianza del Pacífico que son lideradas por mujeres, se llevó a cabo el 28 de noviembre y culminó con expectativas de negocios por US$4.285.400 y cerrados en el momento por un total de US$ 79.400.

Las empresarias asistentes tuvieron 300 citas de negocios con compradores internacionales. Entre ellas se encontraba Natalie Prutsky, creadora de la empresa de snacks saludables Mamalama de Perú, quien destacó que “este tipo de eventos realizados por la Alianza del Pacífico permite explorar nuevos contactos para conquistar nuevos mercados. Estamos aquí porque queremos encontrar un socio comercial que quiera trabajar con nuestra marca y quiera desarrollarla en su mercado local”. 

También participó la colombiana Juliana Jaramillo, fundadora y gerente de la empresa de calzado fisiológico Feels Very Nice, quien señaló que este bloque comercial le ha permitido conquistar países como Perú, México y Chile, en donde sus productos ingresan con cero arancel, lo que representa una ventaja importante a la hora de competir y presentarle los productos a sus clientes.

Igualmente, el 27 de noviembre se llevó a cabo la jornada académica del IV Foro Empresarias Líderes de la Alianza del Pacífico y contó con la participación de importantes expositoras como la peruana Jessica Rodríguez, Fundadora y Directora Comercial de la compañía peruana Art Atlas, Kaitlin King, directora del Incubation Program en NUMA México, Ana Romero, Empresaria & Fundadora de la Comunidad de Empoderamiento Tacos Fuertes de Perú, Nicole Verdugo, Jefa del Departamento de Género de la Dirección de Relaciones Económicas Internacionales – DIRECON – de Chile, la chilena Fabiola Olate, presidenta de la Comunidad Mujeres Influyentes y Juliana Barreto, Directora Internacional de la Comunidad Mujeres Influyentes y Jurado de Shark Tank Colombia.

“Este foro lo que hace es unir a mujeres empresarias para entregar herramientas e inspirar a otras mujeres. Las redes son fundamentales y necesitamos espacios para generar más lazos; si una mujer avanza todas avanzamos”, enfatizó la chilena Fabiola Olate, presidenta de la Comunidad Mujeres Influyentes y líder del panel Mujeres Influyentes.

Durante la jornada académica se realizó el panel Historias de éxito empresarial de las mujeres de la Alianza del Pacífico, en donde participaron cuatro empresarias de los países miembros de este bloque comercial. Ingrid Motta, Directora General de BrainGame Central de México, fue una de estas panelistas y subrayó que “la economía mundial necesita a las mujeres, y debemos quitarnos los miedos y enfocarnos en nuestros sueños. La Alianza del Pacifico ha hecho un trabajo estupendo para empoderar a la mujer y facilitar el networking entre los cuatro países”.

Más de 200 pymes participan en Macrorrueda de Negocios de la Alianza del Pacífico

Empresas esperan realizar importantes transacciones comerciales.

Los sectores de agroindustria, confecciones y manufacturas serán los protagonistas de esta edición.

Con grandes expectativas comerciales inició en Arequipa, Perú, la VII Macrorrueda de Negocios de la Alianza del Pacífico, en las que se hacen presentes 220 pequeñas y medianas empresas (pymes) exportadoras de Chile, Colombia, México y Perú, que sostendrán citas con más de 150 compradores no solo del bloque sino también de Asia y Oceanía.

Esta es la más grande plataforma de negocios no solo del bloque económico sino de Latinoamérica enfocada a contribuir al mayor comercio de las pymes de Chile, Colombia, México y Perú y de ingresar a terceras economías, principalmente a las del Asia Pacífico. En ese sentido, participarán también empresarios de China, Japón, Corea del Sur, India, Indonesia, Malasia, Filipinas, Singapur, Tailandia, Vietnam, Australia y Nueva Zelanda.

Los productos a tratarse por las casi 400 empresas participantes en este encuentro son de los sectores agroindustrial, confecciones y manufacturas, como frutas y hortalizas, confitería y chocolatería, oferta acuícola y pesquera, granos, café, cacao, además de materiales y acabados para la construcción, envases y embalajes, línea cosmética y cuidado personal, confecciones, joyería, artesanía, calzado, entre otros.

Luego de ediciones exitosas en las regiones de la Alianza del Pacífico como Pereira, Colombia y Oaxaca, México, este año la ciudad de Arequipa se convertirá en la Capital de las Pymes de Chile, Colombia, México y Perú recibiendo a empresas exportadoras e importadoras del bloque económico y de muchos países Observadores y Candidatos a Asociados al proceso.

Esta sétima versión de la Macrorrueda de Negocios de la Alianza Pacífico es organizada por PROMPERÚ con el apoyo de ProChile, ProColombia y la Secretaría de Economía de México, y espera generar más de 2.500 contactos comerciales.

La Alianza del Pacífico es la sexta economía del mundo. En el 2018, las exportaciones de este bloque al mundo totalizaron US$  615 006 millones, lo que mostró un incremento de 9.7% con respecto al año anterior.

Más de 10 mil certificados fitosanitarios se intercambiaron de forma virtual en la Alianza del Pacífico

BENEFICIO PROTOCOLO COMERCIAL ALIANZA DEL PACÍFICO

Entre enero de 2017 y el 3 de mayo de 2018, se intercambiaron más de 10 mil certificados fitosanitarios de forma digital, a través de las Ventanillas Únicas de Comercio Exterior, lo cual ha sido de gran apoyo para la facilitación del comercio.

Bogotá (Mayo 7 de 2018) A dos años de entrada en vigor Acuerdo Comercial de la Alianza del Pacífico, conformada por Chile, Colombia, México y Perú, los avances en facilitación de comercio son positivos.

Una de las acciones que lo evidencia, es el intercambio virtual de los certificados fitosanitarios entre los cuatro países, que ha permitido simplificar las transacciones de comercio exterior por intermedio de la interoperabilidad de las Ventanillas Únicas de Comercio Exterior de los cuatro países.

Entre enero del 2017 y el 3 de mayo de este año, se han intercambiado en tiempo real un total de 10.379 documentos, indispensables a la hora de exportar e importar productos agropecuarios y agroindustriales como azúcar de caña, aceite de palma, frutas y chocolates, entre otros.

El uso de la plataforma para el intercambio de estos documentos se ha traducido en más seguridad y transparencia, así como una mayor facilidad y simplificación de trámites para los empresarios.  El país que lidera la emisión de esta clase de documentos es Perú con 7.824 certificados en el período de análisis, seguido por Colombia con 3.738, México con 969 y Chile con 1.793.

Marketing and Communications Network participates in first strategic marketing training session given by Canada

In order to develop skills for the implementation of a strategic marketing plan for a technical and professional education and training awareness campaign that will benefit the Pacific Alliance, Canadian partners will provide a series of 6-8 training sessions for members of the Marketing and Communications Network.

The first module, which took place on April 26 and 28, focused on developing research skills that will help participants to:

  1. Collect and evaluate social data to build effective profiles of their identity, that of their customers and influencers.

  2. Assess public perception of their brand identity.

  3. Make recommendations that clarify their internal and external brand identity from the data collected.

  4. Create effective cultural and social identities that reflect linguistic frameworks for communication design based on the social constructs of the target markets (clear psychographic profiles).

  5. Assess the current media landscape to determine the most effective communication tools to reach a target audience.

  6. Access the resources of traditional research tools.

These sessions are also an opportunity to share experiences, learnings, best practices and possibly resources across networks. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the training modules.

This training program responds to the needs and objectives set out in the Terms of Reference of the Pacific Alliance Education for Employment Program, developed by the Technical Group of Education, and is funded by the Government of Canada.
